Language Program Manager – Cree & Ojibway Language Program

Position Outline:

We are looking for an enthusiastic individual to join the Pacific Association of First Nations Women’s (PAFNW) team. You will Coordinate program activities for Cree and Ojibway language speakers including online classes, cultural language events, field trips and retreats. You will oversee PAFNW’s Language programs’ Digitization Coordinator, Operations Technician and Language Instructors in the organization, development, digitization and archiving of language curriculum resources in analog and digital formats including video and audio recordings. You have excellent leadership skills, are well organized and detail oriented. You are experienced working with Cree and Ojibway families, traditional teachers, and mentors. You have skills in program development, management, and evaluation, and can facilitate the effective management of programs according to the Association’s standards. This position reports to the Lead Matriarch of the PAFNW and is subject to on-going funding.

Supervising and supported by the Language Program Team, you will manage PAFNW’s Cree and Ojibway Language Program and all associated activities for families and community members in the lower mainland including:

  • Manage program development and delivery with the Language Program Team to execute all PAFNW Language Program deliverables
  • Manage communications through media relations, social media, newsletters etc.
  • Lead, develop, maintain, and build positive relations with the project team and external partners
  • Supervise and collaborate with Language Program staff
  • Schedule, organize and promote workshops/meetings/events with the Operations Assistant and ensure records of events are maintained
  • Prepare monthly program and funder reports
  • Monitor program expenses to ensure budget is on target
  • Develop and implement evaluation monitoring tools for the Language Program
  • Seek additional funding for the Language Program
  • Other related duties


  • Considerable knowledge of Cree and/or Ojibway language, cultural teachings, and traditions
  • Ability to speak Cree and/or Ojibway an asset
  • Experienced in office procedures, MS Office (advanced Excel), Zoom, Adobe Premiere, and Canva
  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related field of study preferred or 5 years program management
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills including resolving conflicts
  • Database management an asset
  • Excellent organizational and file management skills
  • Ability to exercise mature judgement and initiative
  • Ability to lead and take direction, as well as be a team player
  • Ability to handle confidential/sensitive material with discretion
  • Ability to work flexible hours up to 37.5 hours per week
  • Proposal writing experience a definite asset
  • Film production and editing experience a definite asset
  • Experience with WordPress/website maintenance an asset

Salary: $48,750.00-$58,500.00 per year
