The VFS Digital Design Department is currently looking to fill a part time, ongoing, Information Architecture Instructor position beginning in June. This role is for Information Architecture in Term 2, and if you are interested, Advanced Information Architecture in Term 3. Information Architecture will provide students with a foundation for creating tools like site maps and wireframes for websites and mobile applications. Specifically, this course will focus on completing an IA project from card sorting to wireframing to usability testing based on a brief provided by the Instructor. Reporting to the Head of School of Creative Technologies, the Instructor is responsible for delivering curriculum effectively and providing feedback to students.

Lessons are typically once per week and schedule can be flexible to day time or evenings.

Core Responsibilities

  • Provide students with instruction based upon existing curriculum.
  • Class attendance and grading.
  • Individual guidance of students where appropriate.
  • Punctual and conscientious management of classes.
  • Collaboration with Head of School of Creative Technologies and faculty on progression of courses.
  • Collaboration with administration staff on resources and equipment issues.
  • Attendance at staff meetings (once every two months).
  • Other duties assigned by the Head of School of Creative Technologies.

Job Qualifications

  • Post-secondary certificate, diploma, degree plus minimum 3 years of industry experience or minimum 10 years of industry experience.
  • Working knowledge as a designer or art director with an interface design and information architect background.
  • Portfolio demonstrating a high caliber of professional work.
  • Ability to lead workshops, lectures, and seminars.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, time management, and interpersonal skills.
  • Critical thinking and problem solving skills.
