We are looking for an organized creative leader that thrives in a dynamic collaborative environment and enjoys working on a versatile slate of productions. Under the direction of the Director of Digital Experience, the Creative Producer/Production Manager is responsible for the overseeing of Ocean Wise stories including blogs and video projects from kickoff to delivery. As well as, working with the Director, Digital Experience on the overall roadmap of studio and management of resources. The ideal candidate in addition to being a skilled individual would be passionate about Our mission “to inspire the global community to become Ocean Wise by increasing its understanding, wonder and appreciation for our oceans”.
Responsible for producing creative and engaging stories by:
Managing production schedules from start to finish for both service projects and original content
Coordinating all story and digital production elements – people, deadlines, shooting scripts, concept execution, edit review process and web build
Managing and coordinating digital workflows and processes from concept to storyboard to rough cut to delivery;
Working with other departments and/or partners to understand their needs then advise and craft the proper storytelling/platform approach
Clearly communicating the focus, audience and resource requirements for each story to the director for story approval;
Field producing and directing stories with production team;
Reviewing and providing constructive feedback on video edits.
Delivery for various outlets, including exhibits, social media, digital applications and the web;
Actively chasing new story ideas and sources;
Discovering, researching, acquiring, and reporting on content related to organizational mission and current global issues;
Writing and communicating stories in blog and video format
Writing scripts for both studio and documentary style shoots;
Interpreting scientific literature and research to re-purpose for a general audience;
Working with varied subjects including researchers, biologists, educators, general-public
Working with researchers to ensure their stories are being delivered with a high degree of accuracy and creativity;
Interviewing subjects for stories or video shoots;
Data and insights
Analyzing and reporting audience data to increase effectiveness of storytelling;
Provides management, coaching and mentoring to Direct Reports and contributes to, and fosters the development of the team by:
Creating an environment conducive to individual development, productivity, and achievement while ensuring open lines of communication;
Ensuring that employees are well organized, sufficiently trained/cross-trained to perform their responsibilities, developed to their potential and deployed in a manner that permits a cost-effective operation;
Planning and facilitating individual touch bases, group touch bases, and skill-building sessions where appropriate;
Providing direction, guidance and support to team members and motivating staff to achieve a high level of performance and productivity;
Establishing performance objectives/goals, reviewing progress throughout the year, and completing formal performance reviews for direct reports as required;
Recognizing and rewarding success, and managing poor performance;
Developing and obtaining agreement on development plans for all direct reports, recommending training courses and seminars where appropriate;
Recruiting, hiring and promoting team members in accordance with standard Ocean Wise policies;
Creating an environment conducive for full employee engagement;
Monitoring and controlling expenditures to ensure that Ocean Wise standards are met while continuing to maintain monthly budget;
Tracking budget and maintaining financial records throughout the year.

Education and Experience
Degree in film/digital media/communications/journalism, post secondary education in writing, film production, or directly related experience;
Two years small-scale/ documentary production or equivalent experience.
Considerable knowledge of and interest in marine biology, ecology and environmental issues;
Demonstrated ability to write and/or produce content for various audiences in different styles including web, social and magazine;
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects at once.
Good understanding of production workflow and
Strong ability to work within a team;
Strong sense of story;
Solid grasp of visual storytelling;
Strong copy-editing skills with an eye for detail;
Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
Excellent people skills and the ability to lead projects to successful completion with highly-skilled team members;
Experience with production software and equipment.

Ability to network with and develop local and international contacts and news sources;
Competent with standard office software;
Able to effectively self-schedule and meet deadlines;
The incumbent will work in a shared office environment with the usual ergonomic risks;
This role may require occasional work in various off-site locations;
Non-standard working hours are an occasional occurrence
