CBC Vancouver, English Services is looking for an energetic and forward thinking Associate Producer to join our team to take on a vital programming role. You perform editorial assignments related to the gathering, writing and presentation of program material for all of our media platforms. You participate in the production, direction and/or post-production of a program and/or program segment. You should be comfortable with the demands and needs of television, radio and online news production, including responding to the pressures of breaking news situations. You should have some experience in field production, and be comfortable chasing and developing enterprise journalism and original research. You should be able to generate story ideas independently. Guidance and direction are regularly available from one or more producers, but there is latitude for initiative and judgment. There may be an opportunity to coordinate the work of others and close cooperation with the program unit is essential.
You will play an integral role in the Local Services strategy with a focus on three priorities:
Content: In this role, you will ensure that all CBC journalistic standards are met and that our stories are fair, balanced, accurate, thoughtful, immediate and resonate with the communities we serve. You will further our original, enterprise and investigative storytelling and ensure we are talking about what matters most to people throughout the country. Community: As the industry shifts, local news and community storytelling is more important than ever. You will understand the diverse and changing population in Canada and the importance of reflecting all our communities in our content.

With appropriate direction from one or more Producers, participates in the production, direction and/or postproduction of a program and/or program segment. Work must adhere to CBC journalistic and/or program policies, practices and standards but initiative and independent judgement are required. There is often a requirement to co-ordinate the activities of others.
