Position: Associate Producer, CTV Morning Live

Location: CTV News, Vancouver BC

Salary: Commensurate with qualifications and experience

Hours of Work: 40 hours per week. Additional overtime hours as required.

Responsibilities:

Bell Media has an opportunity for an experienced Associate Producer to join the team at CTV Morning Live. You should thrive in a live TV environment and have a keen interest in news and current affairs.

The successful candidate will work as part of the CML team to produce an informative and entertaining morning show that celebrates the diversity of metro Vancouver. You will be able to react to news events – chasing topical news guests, with a proven ability to think on your feet under pressure to get the best content – local – national and international on air, in a timely manner.

Reporting to the Supervising Producer the successful candidate will demonstrate exceptional editorial skills when producing show content and interview segments.

You will also be responsible for creating and posting relevant content to the CML social media sites.

  • A self starter who is able to identify – produce and execute compelling content suitable for a morning show audience
  • Pitch, chase and produce interview segments for live tv to keep CTV Morning Live ahead of the competition
  • Responsible for finding, booking and pre-interviewing guests for air
  • Generate interesting, original story ideas for the morning story meeting
  • Floor produce live demonstration segments
  • Monitor and stay abreast of news of the day, as well as lifestyle issues and trends.
  • Create and post regular, relevant content on CML social media sites
  • Build and maintain an extensive list of contacts
  • Participate in post-production meetings and critique sessions
  • Clear and timely communication with the news desk and studio/control room crew to ensure a smooth show
  • Other duties as required


Qualifications:

  • Minimum 2 years’ newsroom experience as a writer/ researcher/ associate producer
  • Previous experience on a morning show program or other live TV production would be an asset
  • Interest and experience in local news with a broadcast journalism background
  • High competency in creating compelling social media/digital content
  • In-depth knowledge of Vancouver, Lower Mainland and British Columbia
  • Excellent writing, communication, computer and organizational skills
  • Creative individual with great knowledge of pop culture and current events
  • Ability to integrate contesting in creative ways
  • Competitive nature with a strong desire to produce the number one morning show in B.C.
  • Early morning shift work required
  • Sound communication skills
  • Ability to work individually and as part of a team
  • Creative vision and editorial judgement with an understanding of the morning audience
  • Control room and field production experience would be an asset

Bilingualism is an asset (English and French); adequate knowledge of French is required for positions in Quebec.
