Position Overview

SideFX is seeking an exceptional Technical Writer with a keen attention to detail to join our Technical Documentation team on-site at our Toronto Office.

As a member of the Research and Development team you will have the opportunity to work alongside some of the brightest minds in the industry and interact with an outstanding artist community. As a Technical Writer you will be responsible for the following:

  • Writing technical documentation for artists and programmers, such as user guides, reference, and API documentation.
  • Deliver clear and concise documentation in simple and easy-to-read English.
  • Collaborate with developers, trainers and other writers to communicate complex ideas to an artistic audience.
  • Review and copy-edit content created by developers and other non-writers.


  • A Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
  • Three years of experience in technical writing is preferred.
  • Great organizational skills with the ability to multitask and work on multiple subject areas at once.
  • Strong written communication skills.
  • A passion for improving the user experience.

Bonus Skills

  • Experience writing guides and manuals.
  • Experience with 3D packages.
  • Production experience in film, TV, or games.
  • Independent learner.
