The CMF is looking for a leader or co-leaders to help it deliver on its short-term actions to combat systemic racism and provide emergency COVID-19 support to under-represented communities in the screen industry.

The CMF will consider hiring one person or two people to fulfill the responsibilities of this role. The position is therefore available part-time or full-time, for a minimum of 6 months with the possibility of extension.

In accordance with the CMF’s commitment to combatting racism and systemic discrimination, from all qualified applicants, preference will be given to individuals with firsthand experience with such issues, such as members of the following groups: Indigenous (First Nations, Inuit or Métis), or Persons of Colour, which includes persons who are Asian, Black, and Latinx. Candidates from these groups who wish to qualify for preferential consideration must self-identify.

The successful candidate(s) will work with the CMF’s strategy and programs teams to coordinate consultations and deliver emergency COVID-19 relief funding allocated to under-represented communities: specifically, Black, Indigenous and People of Colour, Women, LGBTQ2+.

Core responsibilities include:

  • Reporting to the Chief Strategy Officer, coordinate the work of the Black Industry Leaders Group and other consultations with BIPOC communities and other groups to inform the CMF’s program and policy changes;
  • Work directly with the VP, Programs and Business Development and the CMF program team to develop and support the delivery of COVID-19 emergency relief funding for under-represented communities; and
  • Provide advice to CMF staff on its action plan to address systemic racism in the screen industries and in the organization.

The CMF is looking for candidates with the ability to:

  • Design and support consultation processes on complex issues;
  • Develop and maintain relationships of trust with external and internal stakeholders;
  • Contribute to the design of programs that address systemic barriers and discrimination experienced by BIPOC communities in the screen industries;
  • Clearly communicate complex ideas and issues to multiple stakeholders and to senior management;
  • Contribute to short-term action and longer-term strategy to combat systemic racism;
  • Think systemically and translate long-term vision into action;
  • Work autonomously and as part of a team;
  • Work in a fast-paced environment and balance multiple priorities in a constantly changing environment.

The ideal candidate:

  • Has a solid knowledge of Canada’s screen industries, including tv and film production and digital interactive media;
  • Can work in both English and French, or as part of a bilingual team that serves the French and English language markets; and
  • Has knowledge of Microsoft Office suite.
