About the Animated Arts Program:
Our program encourages students to explore, combining fine art practices with principles of traditional animated motion. At a time when the boundaries between live action, animation, painting, photography, illustration and design are dissolving, our interdisciplinary approach encourages you to re-imagine ways to create frame-by-frame work for multiple contexts. In addition to learning traditional principles of timing and pacing, students experiment with a variety of media, production methods, and narrative strategies as they produce work for varied platforms. We present a diverse range of animation in the context of a broad engagement with cinema, art, society and culture. Students engage in research to probe and hone their ideas in a setting that values innovative thinking, risk taking, collaboration, and fine craftsmanship. Our students pursue diverse post graduate outcomes from working in Portland’s robust animation industry to independent media maker to gaining entry into top-tier MFA programs.

PNCA is an Equal Opportunity Employer. Diverse candidates are highly encouraged to apply.
