Position Title: Paralegal / Legal Coordinator
Reporting to: Head of Business Affairs & Legal and Associate Counsel
Location: New York
Join Radical’s exciting in-house business affairs & legal team responsible for negotiations, contracts and administration of rights and clearances for film, TV, digital (unscripted and scripted), incubator and music video/commercial projects in all stages of development and production!
§ Help create and update templates for all aspects of development and production, e.g., production packets, releases, crew and above-the-line forms; help set new precedent for projects across all platforms and media; help streamline processes and implement efficient uses of software.
§ Act as primary rights coordinator for Radical; track critical matters on company projects, e.g.:
o Options tracking
o IP and owned-projects rights tracking
o Litigation tracking
§ Prepare, negotiate and finalize archival licensing agreements (e.g., to license pre-existing footage, stills or audio from third parties)
§ Legal deliverables: Review and assist production and legal teams in the preparation of credit statements, third party footage/restrictions charts, and other rights-related logs for delivery to networks and distributors.
§ Maintain and cultivate ongoing relationships with archival vendors/licensors and identify potential subscription deals and establish discount rates.
§ Evaluate external requests for the use of Radical-owned content and negotiate and complete related licensing agreements and track payment processing.
§ Manage execution/signature process for contracts, including circulating documents, filing/saving them electronically and helping develop and implement new organizational systems.
§ Organize and update legal status report; coordinate weekly Legal Status Meeting, and handle other ad hoc administrative tasks including some scheduling support.
§ Track and assist with processing all outside counsel legal invoices.
§ Bachelor degree and 1-3 years’ experience in a rights and clearances, production or legal/BA capacity in the television/film/entertainment industry or at a law firm.
§ Strong negotiation and contract administration skills.
§ Highly organized and efficient.
§ Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
§ Ability to prioritize tasks and work as a team player in a fast-paced environment with limited supervision and a high level of professionalism.
