New Orleans Film Festival will take place on October 13-26, 2019. The Festival headquarters is located at the Contemporary Arts Center with additional venues spread through the Warehouse District. We also work with neighbourhood theaters, like The Prytania and the Broad. Each night of the Festival we host a party at different venues across the city.
We are looking for a leader who can successfully run the production department of the Festival and build a team of hard-working and passionate individuals. This position is vital for creating a smooth, effective and collaborative environment that all Festival staff can benefit from.
Supervisor: Director of Operations
August 6th – 30th 20h/week for 4 weeks
September 3rd – October 4th 40h/week for 5 weeks
October 5th – 25th 60h/week for 3 weeks
October 28th – November 8th 30h/week for 2 weeks
Hires, trains and oversees Assets Coordinator, Production Coordinator, Production Assistant, and 3-4 Runners.
Asses AV, lighting, power and gobo needs for the Festival and coordinates orders.
Plans all set ups and breakdowns for Festival events: film screenings, parties, VIP Lounge, HUB, Music Video Lounge, Filmmaker Forum.
Manages cargo fleet of 3-5 rented vehicles.
Creates and manages runner’s schedule with assistance from Production Coordinator.
Creates production schedule for the Festival.
Works closely with Theater Operations Manager, Events Manager, Technical Director and VIP Lounge Coordinator around setup and breakdown schedule.
Prepares all Festival supplies with Assets Coordinator and ensures all items are organized, inventoried and dispatched.
Creates tracking system for NOFS assets, donated and rented items flowing between venues.
Manages all deliveries from vendors and sponsors to Festival storage and venues and ensures smooth pick ups and returns of all items.
Oversees Festival storage and ensures all inventory is organized at all times.
Manages loss prevention and creates system to avoid any damages, thefts and losses.
Oversees non-projection installations, like risers, stages, furniture, AV, lighting, gobos, signage, etc. and special build outs in venues.
Ensures that production schedule is executed in timely manner. Solves problems and communicates any changes with the team.
Assess needs for volunteers and submit requests to the Volunteer Coordinator.
Coordinates staff meals, snacks and beverages for the team.
Attends all staff meetings.
Fulfills other tasks assigned by the Director of Operations.
Ability to prioritize and delegate in high stress situations.
Experience in creating a team and managing it.
Festival/events/conventions/shows experience preferred.
Technical knowledge of AV, sound, lighting, staging, truss, etc.
Logistical and production background.
Great organizational skills needed to create seamless workflows and systems.
Motivated, self starter with ability to work late evenings and weekends.
Ability to work independently and take responsibility for the team.
Must be able to carry, move and load heavy and large items.
