Entertainment Tonight is looking for a self-starting, dynamic Senior Reporter who can break news and provide exclusive reporting using their celebrity and industry contacts. You must be comfortable owning a story from start to finish. This means being both proactive and reactive: breaking stories and advancing stories with original reporting. A strong candidate will have a plethora of entertainment sources and extensive knowledge of and passion for entertainment news. This person must also be comfortable with networking and know how to make more sources. An unshakable positive attitude is at the top of our list of criteria we are looking for in the person who will ultimately get this position.
You will be the go-to reporter in the newsroom when news breaks, with an expectation that not only can you handle a big story but that you have contacts you can tap into to gather information. You must also be familiar with reading court records and calling authorities (i.e., fire, police, etc.) for information. Most important is providing factual, detailed reporting. News happens 24/7 so you must be comfortable working in a high-pressure environment.
The ideal candidate will also feel comfortable working and expressing ideas in a team setting. You will be expected to pitch story ideas that will appear across ET’s many platforms. The reporter we’re looking for is a team player, willing to pitch in when needed and works well with others in the newsroom. The Senior Reporter will report to the News Director.
