The Department of Film and Television Production and the Department of Screenwriting in the School of Film and Television at Loyola Marymount University seek an accomplished director or writer-director to join our faculty. The position is designated as Open Rank (Assistant/Associate/Full Professor), with rank determined by the candidate’s qualifications. This is a full-time tenure/tenure-track position with competitive salary and benefits. The position begins in Fall 2020.
The successful candidate will have significant domestic and/or international entertainment industry experience directing and/or writing and directing long-format narrative film, television, or streaming media. The successful candidate will teach graduate and undergraduate foundational courses as well as advanced seminars in directing and/or writing and directing, including how to work with actors. They will be housed in the Department of Film and Television Production and serve as a liaison to the Department of Screenwriting, advancing the curriculum across the two departments. They will be expected to teach the required full-time teaching load of three courses per semester, continue their creative professional work, and provide service to the university.
An MFA in Film/TV Production, Writing, or Media Arts is preferred. Prior university or professional-level teaching experience are preferred.
