Featuring exclusive original movies, series, short-form and live events and a vibrant catalogue that spans classic Disney Animation to the most recent movie releases available to stream on demand, the Disney+ SVOD service will be a global, premium entertainment destination that connects viewers to the great stories of The Walt Disney Company.
This position will focus on the development and strategy for variety, live event content, as well as limited run special projects for Disney+. The role will report to the VP, Originals – Unscripted Content.
The ideal candidate will have experience in live broadcasts and original unscripted content development/production.
Provide leadership and oversight to the content strategy goals for unscripted content to acquire and retain global subscribers
Identify opportunities and execute the variety, live and special projects strategy
Partner with stakeholders, internal management with business affairs, finance, operations, programming and marketing on regular basis to manage and problem-solve issues to achieve creative quality, budget regularity, streamlined workflows and performance accountability
Track trends within pop culture and use this information to inform development choices for the SVOD slate
Provide general creative counsel regarding unscripted content in a rapidly changing consumer environment
Basic Qualifications :
Minimum 7 years in live and unscripted development and/or producing experience
Understanding of live event production and execution a must
Demonstrated strategic command of managing a portfolio of content with a demonstrated track record of developing buzzworthy content to generate maximum viewership
Established professional network and reputation as a smart doer within the film and TV industry – has established strong relationships with the creative community – agents, writers, producers, talent, etc.
Proven leadership ability to inspire and manage a solid development team and process
Understanding of the Disney profile and cross segmentation
Demonstrated knowledge of the live and unscripted production process
Strong leadership, organizational skills and emotionally intelligent communicator with a vision
The ability to successfully translate vision into strategy and turn that strategy into reality by developing a pipeline of shows
Have a creative vision and passion to bring content to life for the SVOD service
Exceptional taste and insight into fostering successful creative experiences
Ability to forecast, be “on the pulse” of social media and consumer demand
Strong creative executive presence – possesses a strategic mindset and has the ability to promote a collaborative environment
Comfortable interacting with senior management to keep them abreast of plans and strategies impacting area of accountability
Strong ability to manage communication and timelines in a development environment
Demonstrated ability to thrive working in an extremely fast-paced environment
Demonstrated ability to lead a dynamic and diverse team, manage multiple projects in varying stages of development and bring projects to successful execution on time and on budget

Required Education :
Bachelor’s degree minimum. Preferably a degree in Business, Marketing, Advertising, Communications, Cinema/Television or related field.
