A big part of everyone’s day at Big Youth Group is community engagement – we take great pride in our community network. From young people, to Big Youth Ambassadors and business partners – bringing back the personal feeling and interaction into the business world is essential in the line of work that we do.
The teams every-day work life revolves around open communication and collaboration on various projects, events and research. Working in an open-plan office gives us the opportunity to seek input and feedback at any point of the day – which is something that we highly encourage.
Honesty and transparency are embedded into the core of our team culture that encourages openness and collaboration not only on professional matters, but personal aspects of our teams lives as well – it is important to have a supportive team around you.
Throughout the interview and review process we tend to focus on the person’s skills rather than their CV and previous experiences. Skills we value in our team members:
- Ability or willingness to develop open communication
- Initiative and entrepreneurial spirit
- Ability or willingness to develop self-managing skills
- Prioritising your work
- Inquisitiveness about the business and technology surrounding it
- Commitment to work and delivery
- Resilience and creative problem solving
When finding the right person to bring into the team we always consider compatibility with the work that we are doing and the ability of the person to create and maintain positive relationships.
We work in a fast-paced environment – brainstorming, ideas, tasks fly around the room and the ability to ‘go with the flow’ is always appreciated. Especially when things don’t go the way they’re supposed to, it’s important to remember that we have a supportive team around us, whatever the outcome – we will deal with it with a strong front
Since passion and boldness are clearly stated in our company values, we also value creativity and taking charge from our team members.
We encourage creative thought and idea development everyday – the only way we will successfully improve the odds for young people is by continuously finding new and exciting ways to engage, upskill and motivate the young people.
