This 1-year full time post is funded by the Research England Development Fund. The project is part of the University Enterprise Zone, UEZ.

The School of Creative Arts is looking for an enthusiastic, self-motivated team player to support small businesses and start-ups in producing high quality digital media content. The Creative Arts Media Production project aims to support small businesses and start-ups in producing high quality digital media content.

The Media Production Technician will manage the project and deliver its services. You will offer training, production and equipment hire in video, photography and audio. You will manage the project and deliver its services, providing practical ‘hands-on’, specialist media services and support to meet a wide range of clients.

Examples of outcomes: corporate Video production/short video production for pitches, Twitter and Youtube; stills photography of products; audio and podcast recording and editing.

The post involves arranging, managing and delivering training sessions for business clients in a variety of settings from one-to-one sessions to larger group workshops. You will produce video, audio and stills media for clients to a high standard and within agreed timescales, achieving the agreed amount of business client engagement within the year of the contract.

During this time you will develop own teaching materials, methods and approaches, supervise the work of clients and student assistants, providing advice and helping them overcome challenges in relation to media production. To grow the role you will seek ways of improving performance by reflecting on technical teaching design and session delivery by obtaining and analysing feedback. A recognised source of knowledge within the school, you will assist in support of teaching and learning in particular on our Film and TV, Photography and Music courses. You will work with the technical staff in the school, producing learning materials and assisting with teaching support and facilities. You will manage photo/video and audio equipment funded by the UEZ project and report regularly on progress of business engagement and production targets.

You will have a significant record of producing video/audio and stills materials to a professional standard, with substantial proven experience of client liaison and project management. In addition, experience of managing productions and budgets, and of preparing production risk assessments.

An ability to design and deliver technical workshops in video/stills and audio is essential, along with the ability to demonstrate proper use of equipment and software. You will be able to produce a high standard of video/stills and audio consistently and within agreed timeframes, have proficiency in English Language and with the Adobe software suite, in particular Premiere Pro, Photoshop, Audition. Also you will have experience of DSLR cameras for stills and Video, Zoom audio recorders and high end microphones and lighting.

You will hold an undergraduate degree or equivalent in a relevant subject, or bring significant industry production experience.
