Lecturer in Film Production – University of Westminster – Harrow

Company: University of Westminster

Address: Harrow

  • Full Time

University of Westminster

This post is full time and permanent, working 35 hours per week.

Westminster School of Arts (WSA) are seeking a Lecturer in Film Production to contribute mainly in support of our highly respected BA (Hons) Film. This is a strongly practice-based and academically demanding course providing a route for graduates into the film and television industries and other creative career sequels. In particular, this post will focus on the production process itself, supporting students to understand project development and the management of their making practice.

You must have significant professional experience within film and/or television, likely in a head of department role, with a professional and academic profile corresponding appropriately with the stage of your career. You will demonstrate a commitment to sustained continuous professional and academic development, and nurture and maintain links with the film and television industries to strengthen teaching programmes, research and associated activities. You will have experience in developing, designing and delivering teaching and student-centred learning, with a knowledge of industry practice, standards and regulations, and an awareness of diversity and wellbeing issues as they relate to film and television practice.

You are also expected to hold a post-graduate qualification, with a view to developing your research through practice, an area of significant expertise for WSA which includes the Centre for Research in Arts and Media (CREAM). A Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy or a PG Cert HE would also be an advantage, and the successful candidate will be expected to achieve this status within their first year in the post if they have not already done so.

The job description and person specification for this role provides full details of the scope and accountabilities, and the skills, qualifications and attributes needed.
