Ideal candidate will work closely with the Director and Studio Manager and expected to craft the finished film. They will work closely with the Director, crafting the daily rushes into a coherent whole. To ensure that the story flows effortlessly from beginning to end, each shot is carefully chosen and edited into a series of scenes, which are in turn assembled to create the finished film.
Taking care of the dailies, and transcoding them into a native format that will be used in the edit
receiving a brief, and maybe an outline of footage and/or a shot list, script, or screenplay
assembling all raw footage, with camera shots either recorded or transferred onto video tape in preparation for inputting into the computer
Inputting uncut rushes and sound, and synchronizing and storing them into files on the computer
Digitally cutting files to put together the sequence of the film and deciding what’s usable
Creating a ‘rough cut’ (or assembly edit) of the programme/film and determining the exact cutting for the next and final stages
Reordering and fine-tuning the content to ensure the logical sequencing and smooth running of the film/video.
Overseeing the quality and progress of audio and video engineering and editing
Experimenting with styles and techniques including the design of graphic elements.
Advanced experience in using Adobe Premiere and Adobe After Effect, FCP, Davinci resolve, Baselight.
Advanced experience using Blackmagic design hardware, Barco projectors. etc.
Having experience in feature films, short films, music videos, commercials, web, and corporate movies.
Being able to multitask, handle different projects in the same time, meeting strict deadlines.
Being able to handle a project from scratch to final delivery, without assistance, but to also work with a team.
Suggesting or selecting music
Being experienced with all kind of deliveries, from tape to digital files, and DCP
Read the shooting script and meet with the director to understand his vision for the film.
Make visits to the locations during filming to gain a sense of how the shooting is progressing.
Go through footage, once shooting is done, and select scenes based on their dramatic and entertainment value and contribution to story continuity. The editor is looking for the best combination of photography, performance, consistency and timing.
Trim the segments of footage to the lengths needed for the film and assemble them into the best sequence to tell the story.
Work with sound effects editors, sound editors and musical directors on sound, score and film sequences that will be added to the film.
Insert music, dialogue and sound effects, using editing equipment.
Review the edited film, make corrections and prepare it as a first cut, or rough cut, for the movie directors and movie producers to view. The first cut may take up to three months to assemble.
Make revisions, as requested by the director and producers, and prepare the final cut for release to the film house for production. The final cut may take an additional month to finish
Degree in Post-production for film and television
You will need to show:
8 plus years experience
Advanced knowledge about Bollywood cinema
Have technical aptitude
Have wide experience of the post production process
Be familiar with a variety of computer editing equipment
Understand dramatic storytelling to create rhythm, pace and tension
Be creative under pressure
Be familiar with Mac system, Linux system, and local server management.
Be fluent in Arabic, French and English.
