Assistant Publicist (EastEnders) – Job Details – BBC
The EastEnders Press Office is responsible for developing and executing a priority-based publicity strategy to achieve the optimum profile in the media for BBC One’s flagship continuing drama series EastEnders.
The BBC is the largest broadcasting corporation in the world. Its mission is to enrich people’s lives with programmes that inform, educate and entertain. It is a public service broadcaster, established by a Royal Charter and funded by the licence fee that is paid by UK households. The BBC uses the income from the licence fee to provide services including 8 national TV channels plus regional programming, 10 national radio stations, 40 local radio stations and an extensive website, bbc.co.uk.
The role of Assistant Publicist is to act as the first point of contact for media enquiries, provide concise copy as well as taking a highly proactive approach to placing features and interviews within a broad range of national and regional media.
The post-holder will support the EastEnders communications teams in providing 360 degree communications support, writing, planning and executing proactive publicity campaigns across traditional and digital media, identifying and managing reputational issues and crises, managing on-air talent, production executives and working within a priority-based publicity
The Ideal Candidate
The successful individual will have experience in publicity and public relations and a good understanding of the media environment. A good news sense with the ability to write crisp, clear and lively press releases and copy. You will be a resilient, flexible individual capable of working in a high-pressure environment and will demonstrate the excellent communication skills required to deal with a wide range of stakeholders and situations.
