The ENG Cameraman’s role is be able to shoot and edit while in field and to be able to assemble, prepare and set up camera and associated equipment prior to filming or deployment, find and manage technical problems, repair and maintain associated equipment, Also on field to be able to use and connect IP communication devices

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assembling, preparing and setting up equipment prior to filming, which may include tripods, monitors, lighting, cables and leads, and headphones.
  • Offering advice on how best to shoot a scene, explaining the visual impact created by particular shots
  • Planning shots to avoid multiple takes
  • Practising the camera moves required for pre-arranged shots
  • Perform on field editing and feeding the package, piece, rushed to HQ if required
  • Being prepared to innovate and experiment with ideas
  • Working quickly, and efficiently
  • Keeping up to date with filming methods and equipment
  • Creatively Framing and capturing action
  • Working closely with reporter and able to edit reports on location
  • Jib/Crane operator
  • Responsible to perform under pressure in a Live news environment and finding the best way of filming in location
  • Able to keep the store tidy and all the equipment sort to easy reach
  • Prepare kit for deployment and work closely with the store manager and other cameramen crew
  • Able to work in studio and in location
  • Meeting the OFCOM standards
  • Understand our technical standards
  • Understands & meets channels broadcast & audio/video standards
  • Adaptable and resourceful before and during the production process
  • Quick and logical in solving problems
  • Any other relevant duties assigned by the line manager

Key Skills/ Personal Attributes and Knowledge:

  • A good sense of visual composition, perspective and movement
  • Ability to collaborate, and to work as part of a team
  • Ability to carry out instructions with great accuracy and attention to detail
  • Ability to frame and compose shots and perform camera moves with precision and speed
  • In-depth knowledge of the principles of camera work
  • Knowledge of the relevant electronics
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and diplomatic skills
  • Good colour vision, and excellent hand-to-eye co-ordination
  • Physical stamina for working long hours and moving heavy equipment
  • Knowledge of the requirements of the relevant Health and Safety legislation and procedures
  • Responding quickly to directions.
  • Ability to work under pressure and achieve targets within deadline 
  • Good organisational skill
  • Excellent communication & time management skills

Qualifications & Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field and or +5 years or more experience in a relevant position
