The Public Relations & Content Manager will have responsibility for both traditional and digital PR communication strategies for LEGOLAND Florida Resort (LLFR). In this role, you will have an eye for what is newsworthy and relevant in a fast-paced, chaotic messaging landscape. With an audience-first mindset, you will develop the overall public relations and content strategy and execute campaigns and initiatives that bring the LEGOLAND Florida brand to life. This position will report to the Senior Manager, Public Relations and will frequently interact with other members of the broader communications team.

This position’s responsibilities include maintaining positive relationships with media in key markets, writing/producing print and digital content including broadcast and video/photographic stories, and leading as a project manager. This person will also serve as spokesperson and liaison in the community, manage key media markets and help facilitate on-going internal communications for LLFR. The ideal candidate will be a solid communicator, a strong storyteller and a strategic planner who is eager to lead as a positive force within the team.

Key Responsibilities
Pitch the media on LLFR and events happening within the park. Research and create story ideas to write press releases, advisories, VNR copy and captions. Develop new and exciting angles on the park while maximizing exposure in all departments. Maintain positive and productive relationships with all members of the working news media both in the core and outer markets.

Lead the content creation for PR and other marketing and media stories through photography and video production.

Serve as contact for broadcast efforts including radio interviews, TV coverage, VNRs, satellite uplinks, and satellite media tours in the park and on-location with media. Develop and maintain video and photo library and archive on on-going basis.

Potentially serve as spokesperson for crisis situations as a key point of contact with the media, community and business entities in the event of incidents within the park, or incidents which involve LLFR.

Represent LLFR at meetings, trade shows, FAM tours, media blitzes and assigned events to generate news coverage and awareness on LLFR. Maintain active memberships and participation in PR and media related organizations. Interface with all local community partners and CVBs to keep informed of LLFR news and generate co-op PR efforts. Act as spokesperson as assigned.

Act as project management and marketing information resource. Schedule and conduct project meetings, facilitate assignments, establish activity budgets and report project status.

Participate as active member of the LLFR Marketing team and monitor and benchmark the competition, develop relationships with counterparts at other Central Florida parks.

Manage any entry-level, seasonal/temporary PR members (including interns, etc.) as these roles become available based on business needs. Develop job descriptions, aid in hiring, on-boarding and managing (meet weekly to review job status, prioritization, goals and updates) these PR Team Members.

About You
Experience in public and media relations, preferably in the tourism, entertainment or attractions industry and proven track record of success in planning and coordinating special events, media relations, and public and community relations.

Ability to build and maintain strong public and media contacts and previous experience as a spokesperson and main point of contact.

Experience serving in a proactive role in creating and implementing media event ideas, stories and strategies is necessary.

Experience with videography and photography tools and the ability to capture unique and compelling stories.
Ability to develop and execute detailed plans, programs and schedulesand effective utilization and coordination of internal and external resources.

Professional writing ability, demonstrated skill in making speeches and presentations, and outstanding organizational, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.

Ability to be a contributing, proactive, positive and supportive member of the LEGOLAND PR team as well as the ability to build positive relationships within LEGOLAND and with the community, charitable organizations, government groups, and the media to increase good will and achieve key department objectives for LEGOLAND Florida Resort.

Computer proficiency with ability to use Microsoft Office Products (Word, Excel and PowerPoint), desktop publishing software.

Education
A bachelor’s degree in journalism, communication arts, advertising, business, marketing, or closely related field (or equivalent education and experience)

Other Job Requirements
Must be willing to work flexible hours, including evenings & weekends to support Resort operations.

Must have a valid driver’s license, safe driving record and be willing to utilize own vehicle for business purposes.

Must have or be able to get a valid passport and relevant travel visas. Requires travel domestically and internationally.

Preferred skills include fluency in Spanish both in written and spoken form.
