This Assistant Director of Football Video Operations position is designed to continue the training and education needed to successfully run a college football video department, including coaches’ video and post production. The objective of the position is to help the individual gain further experience in the areas of sports video acquisition, maintenance and distribution, team AV and IT integration, as well as an understanding of staff video needs.

  • Ability to work a non-traditional schedule, often including evenings, weekends and some travel as required.


Specific Responsibilities:

  • Assist the coaches and football staff with:
    • Creating and preparing game and practice video, cutups, digital playbooks, and scouting reports;
    • Date entry and research;
    • Weekly and post season self-scout analysis;
    • Weekly opponent scout analysis;
    • Troubleshooting IT and AV problems

  • Assist the Director of Video Operations with:
    • Acquisition and distribution of self-scout, opponent, NFL and study-film;
    • Resolving PFF and Big Ten data
    • Meeting room setup and maintenance;
    • Virtual reality filming and distribution;
    • Video and database maintenance;
    • Cloud storage management;
    • Game day, travel camp and bowl site management.
    • Supervision of student staff

  • Assist the Director of Video Operations with:
    • Capturing and logging of post-production footage;
    • Creation of team or position highlight videos;
    • Maintenance of post-production video database;
    • Highlight and social media video requests.
    • Official visit AV and IT needs

  • Responsible for adhering to all Department and University policies and procedures, as well as the rules, regulations, bylaws and interpretations of the Big Ten Conference and the NCAA.
  • Performs other related duties as required or assigned.

Minimum Qualifications: (Education and experience)

  • Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a bachelor’s or higher degree; OR appropriate combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum 1 years’ experience working as a student or full-time employee in a Football Video Operations Department required.

  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work efficiently on short deadlines.

Preferred Competencies: (Skills, knowledge, and abilities)

  • Knowledge of rules and regulations of the NCAA, Big Ten Conference and Northwestern University preferred.
