WGBH Radio/Creative Traffic and Promotion Department produces on-air program promotion spots and develops and produces imaging campaigns for WGBH Radio and WCRB. Also responsible for generating daily traffic logs for WGBH Radio, WCRB and WCAI.


The Radio Associate Producer will have two primary areas of responsibility—assisting with On-Air Promo production for 89.7 WGBH and 99.5 WCRB and compiling daily traffic logs. Experience with broadcast operation technologies and writing for radio required.


  • Responsible for production of daily promo spots from our morning and/or afternoon news teams on WGBH, and weekly show promos for WCRB.
  • Assist in maintaining ongoing image campaign spots for promotional priorities for both WGBH and WCRB.
  • Write promo copy for live reads by air staff. Help in the development of new image campaigns as assigned. Edit underwriting and promotional copy for TV spots.
  • Produce other promos for all radio stations as needed.
  • Under the direction of the Radio Traffic Manager, execute all daily, weekly, monthly Traffic operations for any of the three WGBH Radio stations, as assigned, including contract entry, log assembly, reconciliation procedures, and log check within automation systems.
  • Be able to effectively fill all department roles as needed and work collaboratively with the radio traffic/promo team.


  • Must be a self-starter and able to work collaboratively with a small staff, and independently, as needed.
  • Positive attitude, ability to work with editors and other producers in a team environment
  • This position requires strong writing skills – experience writing for broadcast or print required
  • This position requires strong digital editing skills and the ability to work cooperatively and calmly under deadline pressure.
  • Excellent verbal communication and organizational skills and ability to meet deadlines; ability to be flexible as news breaks or show rundowns change.
  • Ability to handle multiple and complex projects simultaneously under stringent time frames and changing priorities
  • Experience producing with Adobe Audition, Cubase, or similar broadcast digital audio workstations
  • Experience with Marketron radio traffic software preferred (although not required).
  • Ability to work ahead and manage radio inventory.
  • Excellent computer skills.


A college degree is required. A master’s degree in journalism is preferred. At least 1-3 years of experience in radio/broadcast, preferably at the national level, or large local station.
