Duties & Responsibilities
Reporting to the Director of Communications and Outreach, the multimedia producer directs and creates video and other digital media for the College Admissions & Financial Aid Office. S/he works within the new Content Lab, whose mission is to create digital content, primarily video and other multimedia for the recruitment and enrollment of undergraduate students. The producer plays a primary role in establishing the multimedia studio, setting the strategy for the program, and hiring students.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Plan, develop, and publish content for Admissions and Financial Aid communications (video, photo, digital, etc.) related to recruitment. Manage pre-production, planning, logistics, filming, editing, audio, and posting of video products.
Hire and oversee part-time student interns (e.g., photographers, recruiters, and digital communications) to source concepts and content for student-generated campaigns; train them in digital media production.
Collaborate with Communication Director, Manager of Digital Recruitment, and other stakeholders (e.g., donors, leadership, and staff) during all phases of production to ensure content is aligned with organizational priorities.
Integrate multimedia deliverables into Admissions & Financial Aid Office communications, including college.harvard.edu, YouTube, and the office’s social channels.
Manage crowd-source campaigns to gather, edit, and publish student-generated multimedia content.
Generate creative projects that simultaneously meet very specific client needs.
Contribute to efforts to make multimedia content social media-friendly; conceive/research new opportunities, technology, and formats to reach new audiences.
Act as technical liaison to other university departments and external vendors.
Additional duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree. Experience may count towards education.
Three+ years of work experience.
- 5 years of experience with design/production, motion graphics, and video editing preferred.
Bachelor’s degree in Multimedia/Visual Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Graphic Design, Marketing, or related field preferred.
Must be able to work on multiple projects and complete high-quality work in context of tight deadlines dictated by clients and management.
Excellent content judgment.
Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
Strong organizational skills.
Strong understanding of fundamental design skills (i.e. color, typography, composition).
Previous experience working on video shoots, including providing and taking direction.
Experience with both DSLR cameras and professional film cameras.
Experience with organizing and archiving raw and edited video files, as well as audio editing and color correction.
Advanced knowledge of Adobe Premiere Pro and After Effects.
Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite CC applications.
