Summary

The Content Manager reports to the Director of Content and Brand and is responsible for the daily execution and project management of content development projects, including copy, photography and videography. S/he works to develop consistent and accurate digital and print content in support of marketing initiatives to promote the Perkins brands and help achieve strategic priorities, both internally and externally.

Responsibilities include:

Oversees content creation as lead editor, producer and writer. Manages multiple and often competing priorities, supports and writes content for a robust development/fundraising content stream and participates in the ongoing content creation for multiple social channels across more than one Perkins sub-brand (Perkins Access, Perkins India, Perkins eLearning, among others).

Drives content development in collaboration with Marketing leadership and Perkins divisions from conception to delivery on multiple platforms, including websites, social channels, print collateral, advertising and other projects as assigned. Envisions multiple uses for content assets and considers existing assets as starting points for all new projects.

  • Serves as lead content creator of written materials in conjunction with other team members across all marketing channels.
  • Responsible for developing fluency in organizational brand and voice, in order to maintain consistency in message, tone and personality to support Perkins brand identity and organizational goals. Becomes well-versed in Perkins’ key messages to ensure integration across communications products.
  • Responsible for major digital/print publications and other projects, working with marketing team members responsible for visual assets, design, production management, distribution and accessible versions.
  • Able to develop content in line with SEO best practices.
  • Serves as an editor and mentor for all content creators to grow message development skills and project management skills and strategies.
  • Collaborates across Perkins teams as appropriate to ensure content of the highest quality is aligned with strategic priorities, reaches the most appropriate audiences and inspires desired audience actions, with measurable goals for success whenever possible.
  • Manages vendors and freelance work.
  • Uses experience and problem-solving to maintain an efficient workflow and open, productive team environment.
  • Acts as an ambassador and positive, engaged member of the content team, dedicated to supporting Perkins marketing objectives as they relate to strategic priorities and forwarding Perkins’ mission.

Supervisory responsibilities:

Manages employees involved in Marketing’s content production including: writer, photographer and videographer; is responsible for the direction, coordination, budgetary planning and evaluation of this team. Oversees the interviewing, hiring, and training of these roles in coordination with director of content and brand.

Education and experience:

Bachelor’s degree with 5+ years of experience in communications, marketing and management experience
