MISSION STATEMENT: Austin Film Festival furthers the art and craft of filmmaking by inspiring and championing the work of screenwriters, filmmakers, and all artists who use the language of film to tell a story.

JOB DESCRIPTION: The Screenplay & Teleplay Competition Coordinator is primarily responsible for all administrative support required for the department. This includes providing technical support for entrants in the competition through e-mail and over the phone, processing all online and mailed-in entries and payments, analyzing and creating reports of entries to support all marketing efforts, providing technical support for competition readers and monitoring their progress, collaborating with the Screenplay & Teleplay Competition Creative Director with all logistics in preparation for the annual Conference, and assisting with preparing readers’ notes to be sent to all competition entrants.

The responsibilities of the Screenplay Competitions Manager include but are not limited to the following tasks:

· Respond to many e-mail inquiries on a daily basis

· Collaborate with Director of Script Competitions on all projects within the department

· Communicate the status of the department to the Executive Director and staff during weekly meetings

· Supervise interns and assign tasks

· Process all online and mailed-in entries and payments

· Provide all administrative and technical support for online submission system and online reader system

· Analyze data of competition entrants on a regular basis for marketing purposes

· Assist with the design and implementation of department marketing efforts

· Assign scripts to 400-450 readers (over 11,000 scripts will need to be reviewed at least twice)

· Work with Competition Director to monitor readers’ progress and send them regular progress reports

· Assist with reading competition scripts as needed (optional)

· Coordinate process for sending e-mail and postal mail notifications to all entrants

· Prepare and send Semifinalist and Finalist scripts to industry judges to evaluate

· Coordinate the production of the Producer’s Book which contains loglines and contact info for the year’s top scripts

· Assist with all marketing for promoting Conference to Second Rounders, Semifinalists, and Finalists

· Collaborate with Pitch Competition Coordinator on preparing for annual Pitch Competition during the Conference

· Process coverage requests submitted to the Coverage Program and assign scripts to coverage readers

· Coordinate process for reviewing and sending Reader Comments to all 10,000+ entrants after the Festival


· Bachelor’s Degree

· Professional experience in relevant fields


· Highly organized

· Time management and proven ability to meet deadlines and goals

· Both a team player and able to work independently without much supervision

· Managerial ability

· Strong communication skills both written and verbal

· Multi-tasking

· Problem solving

· Able to handle high volume of stress

· Experience with FileMaker Pro and Microsoft Office programs a plus!

Salary: $37,000.00 /year
