The Local Media Coordinator is accountable for the day to day needs of media buyers and their buyers’ clients/.

Position-Specific Responsibilities/Duties:

The local media coordinator will work across all clients and is responsible for assisting media buyers by maintaining buys that reflect clients’ marketing and advertising objectives by closely following all guidelines and processes, thereby helping the buyer meet or exceed cost and rating point objectives

Local media coordinators work closely with their media buyers and the rep community to ensure that makegoods and discrepancies are handled in a timely manner. They regularly attend internal training sessions as well as meetings with external partners in order to build their knowledge base and establish a more comprehensive understanding of the overall media landscape. They are also regularly responsible for compiling reports for client projects and meeting strict deadlines.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Provide appropriate stewardship of media buys within acceptable timelines established for each client – including, but not limited to acceptable make-goods and discrepancy resolution
  • Track and input all makegoods on a regular basis to protect purchased TRPs and dollars and to ensure buy is current
  • Input all buy maintenance into Media Ocean
  • Verify weekly post logs for LPM markets or problem markets when required
  • Work with buyers to order and confirm buy schedules to station reps through Order Manager
  • Input TRP and dollars goals into Media Ocean
  • Complete buy recaps and buy summaries
  • Provide estimated and actual add-value for post buy delivery
  • Ability to produce top-quality work in a fast-paced environment. Able to adapt to changes in client objectives, priorities or budgets while minimizing impact on project momentum
  • Strong time management skills; ability to multi-task and prioritize
  • Strong follow through and attention to detail and accuracy
  • Complete special projects and reports such as pre-planning materials within deadline with accuracy
  • The local media coordinator should have a working knowledge of several syndicated tools to assist their buyers when building a media buy for a client or specific campaign. Several systems with regular use in the department include MediaOcean, Nielsen TV ratings, Nielsen Audio ratings SQAD and other relevant research tools.
