OVERALL JOBDESCRIPTION: The Development Director’s primary role is to cultivate and maintainrelationships with local and national sponsors. The primary goal of theposition is to raise $300,000 dollars in cash sponsorships and manage aconsiderable budget of trade sponsorship. The Development Director needs to beproactive and have an entrepreneurial mindset, have an outgoing personality, aswell as good problem solving-skills. Candidate should also have a familiaritywith the Austin community. While working for this critically recognizedorganization, applicants are expected to be able to work efficiently andprofessionally in a fast paced, team-oriented production environment. In such an environment, the ability to workwell under pressure, excellent communication skills and intense organizationalskills are a must.

RESPONSIBILITIES: The responsibilitiesof the Development Director include but are not limited to:

  • Cultivate current business sponsor relationships and maintain ongoing contact with targeted donors
  • Secure financial support from individuals, foundations, and corporations for the Annual Austin Film Festival and Conference and multiple year-round events
  • Create unique proposals and tailor sponsorships specifically to each sponsor
  • Fulfill promotional assets and activation of sponsorship agreements throughout the 8-day Festival (this includes but is not limited to management and preparation of festival program, website, banners & signage, invitations, badges and passes, festival parties, and various festival advertisements)
  • Create Final Reports for each sponsor in a timely manner and set up wrap up meetings post Festival
  • Hire, train, and manage the Development Assistant and Development Events Coordinator, and two to three interns per semester
  • Maintain weekly reports that include contacts and proposal submittals for Executive and Managing Directors
  • Seek out and attend other Festivals and Conferences and be active in community events, maintaining partnerships and researching potential sponsors

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree inrelated field
  • A minimum of three(3) years of development and sales experience (preferably with an event ornon-profit)
  • Have knowledge andexperience in fund raising techniques, particularly major sponsorshipfundraising
  • Possess the skills towork with an motivate staff, board members, and volunteers
  • Ability to work offtimeline and budget, setting and maintaining goals
  • Desire to get out ofthe office and build external relationships
  • Ability to prioritizeand delegate in high stress situations
  • Excellentorganizational, analytical, and problem solving skills
  • Experience workingwith and communicating with a team
  • Must have proactiveand entrepreneurial mindset
  • Event planningexperience preferred
