PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:

The Communications Supervisor will be responsible for all media relations, public relations, and ambassador/influencer initiatives for the organization. This position implements global strategies domestically, creates regional strategies, and oversees all activities related to earned media and public relations. The ultimate goal of this position is to gain affinity, awareness, and consideration of Triumph from consumers and dealers by creating and sharing engaging content, and by securing coverage from traditional and digital media.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Identify, develop, and execute communications strategy for key media contacts, to include but not limited to creating and delivering press releases and media relations content, scheduling press interview, and scheduling attendance at new product launches and rides
  • Execute global public relations strategies locally, which are designed to create and maintain a favorable brand image and generate model awareness of latest product (motorcycle & PAC) offering via high volume of endemic and non-endemic coverage
  • Execute an influencer and ambassador strategy including project management of influencer contracts
  • Work with Marketing Director to plan annual PR budget and actively manage approved budget
  • Manage strategic partnerships with significant earned media opportunities, such as film placements, and oversee execution of contracts and motorcycle logistics
  • Help generate original content to support dedicated North American market social media strategies designed to create and maintain favorable brand image and generate model awareness of latest product (motorcycle and PAC) offering with an emphasis on engagement.
  • Develop and maintain departmental tools and resources like press kit, media database, and reporting charts
  • Oversee scheduling and management of press fleet and support coordination with After Sales/Operations team to ensure timely and quality execution of press fleet bike transportation logistics
  • Research, track and report media coverage and industry trends

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Knowledge:

  • General Motorcycle Industry Knowledge
  • Broad knowledge of the full spectrum of marketing avenues, from search marketing (SEO/SEM) to social channel marketing to traditional print/publication marketing

Skills:

  • Must hold a valid driver’s license with motorcycle endorsements
  • Must have a valid passport
  • Detail oriented with ability to multi-task
  • Superior language and writing proficiency, including strong grammar and proofreading skills
  • Close attention to detail to serve as an editor – both visually and for all marketing copy
  • Careful, established and fine-tuned eye for visuals and art direction

Abilities:

  • Ability to travel frequently including overnight stays for media activities while maintaining regular job responsibilities when working remotely
  • Advanced motorcycling experience with ability to ride confidently on track and off-road
  • Resourcefulness and ability to solve problems independently
  • Project management skills to coordinate a high volume of projects at any given moment
  • Develop and nurture strong relationships

RELATIONSHIPS

Internal:

  • This role works closely with the Central Marketing Team in the UK and full marketing department
  • This role also has regular interaction with various departments, field staff and dealers

External

  • Establish, maintain and cultivate relationships with all relevant members of the media and influencers, from publications to printers to custom bike builders and Hollywood A-listers
  • Maintain relationships and communication with agency partners

AUTHORITY

  • This position has the authority to sign off on media insertions, provide approvals to all other departments, field staff and dealers on questions related to the corporate Brand Guidelines
  • This position has spending authority on budget lines relevant to the PR and influencer budgets (assuming final approval by Marketing Director, GM, and CFO)
  • This position may hire and fire positions falling under the “PR & influencer” team
  • This position is required to work very independently. However, this position must understand when circumstances require an executive approval be needed on any particular project

EDUCATION

  • High School diploma
  • Bachelor’s Degree in marketing, communications, journalism or related field

TRAINING

  • Triumph Academy
  • Immediate training on the job includes a Brand Induction (UK created) to understand the history and vision of the company from a branding perspective

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS OF THE JOB

  • 65-85% office work at a desk or at a conference table / Other times filled with media and/or partner meetings (on and off-site), attending press launches, media rides, consumer events, industry and networking events, etc
  • 15-35% travel, including holidays and weekends, and including internationally
