Job Summary:

An international government organization working in the southeast United States is looking for a Director of Cultural Affairs. The mission of the organization is to strengthen the ties between the Southeast and the organization in the realms of politics, economics, academia, culture, media, and diverse communities and to motivate different American audiences to actively promote the partnership with the USA, such as religious communities, organizations, students, and faculties, journalists, business and civic groups.

This position provides the opportunity to act as a liaison and spokesperson for the Southeastern United States. This position is an excellent opportunity to work extensively and closely with museums, artists, communities, government officials, media and news outlets, among others on a variety of levels and scales. The maintenance and development of positive working relationships with these contacts at all levels, in order to organize positive cultural events with diverse audiences and event types. This position is crucial to the success of the agency and provides a unique and creative way for the agency to use a more artistic and cultural lens to engage different communities with positive representation.

As the Director of Cultural Affairs, you will be responsible for a wide range of activities. Typical duties include:

  • Planning, Organizing and implementing cultural events: film festivals; photo festivals; exhibits; presenters; dancers; music performers
  • Initiating projects of cooperation (eg. art exhibits, international fairs, cultural programs, etc.)
  • Strong interest and background in arts and culture, including but not limited to music, film, theatre, dance, visual arts, and literature


A bachelor’s degree is required; candidates will be considered from all majors/fields and levels of experience. The ideal candidate will possess a strong knowledge and understanding of the unique nature of the Southern US; preferably have experience working with artists, museums, and other community partners. The ideal candidate will have excellent computer skills, especially in the Microsoft Office suite. The ability to handle sensitive information is required. Additional qualifications that will be taken into consideration for eligibility include:

  • Ability to maintain effective communication and working relationships with team members
  • Good organizational skills and event planning expertise
  • Good people skills and the ability to maintain multiple relationships and events simultaneously
  • Strong writing skills; ability to craft timely executive correspondence, reports, and memos on trends, visits, and meetings
  • Skill in communicating orally by preparing and presenting briefings and presentations for government officials and outside parties
  • Experience in small and large scale event planning and logistical coordination of working trips desirable Candidates will be selected on writing and demonstrated interpersonal skills, previous work experience, multi-tasking abilities, and his/her aptitude to work at a high level of intensity.
