Description

SAIC is looking for a Digital Media Technician who must have good interpersonal skills and excellent customer service, along with problem solving and troubleshooting skills. Applicant must be detail oriented and capable of working independently. Applicant must have strong experience in broadcast level audio/video production and technical expertise in a wide range of video and audio equipment. Applicant should be familiar with streaming media processes and technologies, digital media formats and media encoding and transcoding.
The work performed will include, but may not be limited to:

  • Set up and breakdown for video streaming events
  • Operate production equipment (camera, mic, mixer, etc.)
  • Set up network connection
  • Use DAs to split signals
  • Operate computer field recorders
  • Digitally archive and transcode film and video
  • Create metadata files
  • Post process digitized files
  • Directly interact with customers during live streaming events
  • Provide assistance to media library and archive customers
  • Assist with equipment updates, configuration, and maintenance
  • Work effectively with team members and independently with minimal supervision

Qualifications

  • Requires Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Management of Information Systems, or relevant discipline and 2 years or more of related experience OR 6 years or more of equivalent experience in lieu of degree.
  • 2 years minimum professional video production experience including camera operation and audio recording
  • 2 years minimum or working with NLEs
  • Knowledge of production equipment
  • Knowledge of analog and digital media formats (film experience is a plus)
  • Technical expertise in troubleshooting current and legacy equipment and software
  • Installing, and integrating video and audio equipment for production and post-production
  • Experience with Digital Asset Management systems
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to operate independently
  • Strong client service skills
  • Ability to thrive in a rapidly changing environment and navigate through unexpected roadblocks
  • Technical media, communications, or computer degree or certification is a plus
  • Candidate can start uncleared but must be able to obtain a DOE Q security clearance

Desired Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with live streaming
  • Familiarity with Sonic Foundry’s Mediasite platform and related hardware
  • Familiarity with Sony Vegas non-linear editing software
  • Experience digitizing legacy video formats such asU-Matic, Beta and VHS as well as more recent video formats
  • Experience with hardware operation and maintenance for current and legacy video formats
  • Familiarity with Metus Ingest or similar video digitizing and transcoding software
  • Experience with digitally scanning motion picture film
  • Familiarity with Laser Graphics film scanners
  • Active DOE Q clearance or DOD TS
